| RE | TRANSITIONS Carlos Eduardo Thompson (Rio de Janeiro, 1968) explores the process of metamorphosis experienced in embracing gender and identity fluidity, the process of identifying the authentic self is as personal as the stories that serve as its underpinnings. And while only fragments may be transferable between individuals, it is the overlap found in different stories that becomes a means of internal connection. It is a conceptual movement piece, oscillating between contemporary dance and theater, exploring the stages of metamorphosis that open the way to embracing gender fluidity, interpreting through movement the physical and emotional changes that guided the personal journey of discovery. The performance is based on a personal story that exemplifies the stories of many people with fluid gender identities. Using performative strategies from the subculture, high culture is fulfilled.
